The lock on this handgun box is powered by a standard nine-volt alkaline battery that is hidden in a battery compartment in the base of the box. Just slide open the door and tug on the ribbon to remove the battery when the time comes to change it, attach the new one, slip it back into the box, and then slide the door back onto the compartment.
The GunVault MV-500's swagged stopper slips into a pre-cut hole to attach the handgun safe to a stationary item.
If the battery happens to die, you can open this box with a key that is provided with the box.
It measures 11" x 8-1/2" x 2-1/4" on the exterior and 10-3/4" x 6-1/2" x 2" on the inside. It weighs about five pounds. A great handgun safe for on the go, it comes with a four foot security cable that has a swagged loop on one end and a stopper swagged to the other end. You secure it to a large item by looping the flexible cable around the item and then placing the swagged stopper into the unit and shutting it to keep from someone walking away with it.
