Instructions for proper installation of floor safes.

floor safe applications
The diversity of floor safes give you the opportunity to use it in many different places.

PLAN AHEAD:

Be careful to rotate the safe so that the combination dial will be oriented to the proper direction for operating when the door is in the safe body.

INSTALLATION IN AN EXISTING CONCRETE/CEMENT FLOOR:

You need to break through the concrete and dig a hole to cement the safe in the floor.
After determining desired location, break through concrete floor with a sledge hammer (it may be necessary to drill through with a star drill first then break into that hole) and chip hole round or square to proper size. Dig out underneath floor as illustrated to about 3 inches below position of the safe. The greater the amount of reinforced concrete that can be placed around the safe the greater the security. Partially fill the hole with concrete mixture, set in the safe, and adjust to desire position. Fill remaining hole with concrete mixture and reinforcement, and then finish off. Keep top of the safe level with the finished floor.

INSTALLATION WHEN POURING A NEW CONCRETE/CEMENT FLOOR:

Dig out ground to provide a form as shown for cement floor installation, put safe into position in live concrete and adjust to proper level, etc. prior to finishing of floor. Or better yet block out a hole for the safe in the floor, leave 3" of room on each side of safe to be installed. Go back and install the safe after you have the walls and roof up this way the safe will never get rain in it (and less people will know that you have a safe).

WOOD FLOOR INSTALLATION:

Wood Floors are usually in raised foundations and when you install an floor safe in a raised foundation, you need to build a wooden form to hold the concrete and safe.
Requires a retaining form to be built between the floor and the ground, or a basket made to attach to the joist (depending on the size of the safe) to hold the concrete. The form I best made from wire mesh lined with roofing paper. Wood forms can be used but should be removed after concrete has set to prevent termites from traveling to building. Cut a hole in floor, set safe and finish off cement flush with floor unless it is desire to cover with a false floor.

CONCRETE MIXTURE:

Use concrete mixture of 1, 2, 4, (1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 4 parts 3/4" rock) thoroughly mix with water to desired consistency.

CAUTION:

Seal the cover plate with masking tape in such a way that excess concrete cannot seep between the door and the body of the safe and set, thus cementing in the door. After installation please allow the concrete/cement to dry for 24 hours before using the safe.

NOTE:

If safe is placed where water might run into safe, raise safe above floor level not more than 1" above finished floor, then bevel off new cement from safe level to floor level, or leave protrude as desired.
