If you are reading this, you've probably realized that most safes you've seen, really aren't that safe.

Nearly every type of safe you see on the market is either a B-Rate or RSC, meaning it is rated for break-in attempts that last up to 5 minutes. In the grand scheme of things, this really isn't a lot of time and a determined burglar would be able to access the safe, if they know what they're doing. If you're looking for a safe that is so tough, the insurance companies will back it up for $100,000 - $150,000, you've come to the right place.

The technical definition of a TL-15 safe is as follows: "Signifies a combination-locked safe designed to offer a limited degree of protection against attack by common mechanical and electrical hand tools and any combination of these means. Has successfully resisted entry* for a net working time of 15 minutes when attacked with common hand tools, picking tools, mechanical or portable electric tools, grinding points, carbide drills and pressure applying devices or mechanisms." Basically they take every tool a smart burglar would use and punish the safe for 15 minutes. If the safe survives, it is rated TL-15 and Qualifies for Mercantile & Broadform Insurance Class ER with a Bank Rating of BR. So I'm sure you're wondering, how do they accomplish this?

Let's start with the massive 6-3/4" door, constructed of a 2-1/2" defense barrier of outer and inner steel plates creating a single structure encasing a unique, high density fire and burglary resistant composite material. This defense barrier houses a proprietary amalgamation of nuggets and steel fibers to withstand concentrated attacks with the most sophisticated equipment used by burglars. On the door lies a U.L. listed Type 1 ESL10XL Electronic lock that is protected by a drill shattering hard plate and two additional spring loaded relocking bolts connected to a tempered glass plate. The hinges offer a vertical height adjustment and utilizes an oil impregnated bearing ensuring easy door operation.

The locking mechanism on the AMSEC MAX6528 is equipped with sixteen massive 1-1/2" diameter chrome plated solid steel locking bolts that move deep into the body's protected bolt chambers. The body is formed to combine a total protective thickness of 2-3/4" enclosing a high density fire resistant composite material with nuggets and steel fibers. The reinforced drill resistant door frame protects the door and each individual bolt chamber from severe side attacks. The proprietary inner barrier protects against peeling attacks.

The AMSEC MAX6528 safe earned a 90 minute fire rating from ETL. When analyzing fire performance, be sure to weigh reports from ETL or UL laboratories against unverified factory "claims".

It comes standard with four high strength adjustable shelves, a chrome L shaped handle, finial pull handle and a bolt detent that locks the door automatically when shut.

The AMSEC MAX6528 is backed by a 1 year parts and labor warranty.

When you plan on placing $100,000 - $150,000 worth of value in your safe, you can trust the AMSEC MAX TL-15 series.

Awesome safe, seems very secure, not made in America though.

Made in Vietnam, one of the lowest minimum wages in the world. Guess they have good quality sweat shops over there because it's built like a tank. If you want an American made TL-15 American Security safe you have to spend almost 5k. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before those are outsourced too. Took a week for the safe to ship because they had to wait for it to come in on the boat. I'd buy from Dean safe again but was very disappointed that it wasn't American made so I removed a star. If you're looking for a high security safe this one seems pretty solid.

Looked at all types of safes, narrowed it down to two. Called Dean Safe, and this one was recommended. We opted to pay extra to swapout the electronic lock for the mechanical lock. They call it a downgrade, but i think it's a upgrade. The unit is very well built and very heavy for its size. Would be nice if Amsec would make these in the U.S.A. instead of importing them. Everyone we talked to were very helpfull and the two guys that delivered it were nice. We opted to pay for delivering,...as the free shipping is curbside and moving a heavy item is difficult. The prices are all very good.
